PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of developing a high-quality, uniform and inexpensive iron-containing zeolite from a waste molding sand, a slag or an iron clay as a main raw material and unutilized resources such as a waste glass, a waste diatomaceous earth or an aluminum dross as an auxiliary raw material and further developing a method of producing the zeolite. SOLUTION: This iron-containing zeolite is obtained by heat-treating or heat-treating and ultrasonically treating one or more kinds of the waste molding sand with the slag and iron clay or a mixture prepared by adding at least one or more kinds of the glass, diatomaceous earth and aluminum dross to the one or more kinds of the waste molding sand, slag and iron clay in an aqueous solution of an alkali. The method of producing the zeolite uses the one or more kinds of the waste molding sand, slag or iron clay as the raw material or uses the mixture prepared by adding at least the one or more kinds of the glass, diatomaceous earth and aluminum dross to the one or more kinds of the waste molding sand, slag and iron clay.
