PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material which has good elution controllability in soil and can avert the accumulation of the coat in an ecosystem by the degradation of the films in and out of the soil and a coated fertilizer by the same. SOLUTION: The coating material containing aliphatic aromatic polyester formed of an aliphatic compound component (for example, aliphatic glycol and aliphatic dicarboxylic acid) and an aromatic compound component (for example, aromatic dicarboxylic acid) as at least one component in the main chain and the coated granular fertilizer coated by using this material.
