PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material enabling attainment of a printing plate which enables execution of high-resolution recording and is also excellent in image quality, in comparison with a printing plate material for forming an image by ablation, and which is excellent in recovery from a ground stain, a blanket stain and smear and free of printer pollution, and an image forming method using the same. SOLUTION: This printing plate material has on a base a layer A containing a material of which the melting point is 50-200 deg.C and a layer B formed thereon and containing porous inorganic particles and a material having a photothermal conversion function. Herein the material having the photothermal conversion function is contained also in the layer A. The material having the photothermal conversion function absorbs infrared rays and converts them into heat, and it has electroconductivity. In this image forming method, the printing plate material is heated in the shape of an image and the material to be melted by the heat contained in the layer A is melted and made to permeate into the layer B or ooze out to the surface thereof so that an image part be formed. |
