PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide battery box mounting structure for an electric vehicle permitting a battery box to be easily attached to and detached from the lower face of a vehicle body. SOLUTION: This battery box mounting structure for an electric vehicle is provided with hook members 31 swingably supported to cross members 12, 13 arranged parallel with a battery mounting position 20a in between, and rotation regulating mechanism 35 for holding the hook members 31 into the working positions. A battery box 20 is moved up from below between the hook members 31 held in the non-working positions, and each hook members 31 is swung into the working position to position and hold the battery box 20 into the battery mounting position 20a. When the hold of the rotation regulating part is released, each hook member 3 is swung of its own weight into the non- working position and retreated from the battery mounting position 20a to facilitate battery box mounting and detaching work.
