PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of avoiding a problem of a by-product of aΔ2-cephem compound and producing a high-purity 3-sulfonyloxy-Δ3-cephem compound in a high yield by a simpler and highly practical method. SOLUTION: This method for producing a 3-sulfonyloxy-3-cephem compound of formula (3) comprises reacting a 3-hydroxy-3-cephem compound of formula (1) with a sulfonic acid halide compound of formula (2) in an organic solvent in the presence of an alkali metal carbonate or an alkaline earth metal carbonate.
