PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover poor fuel consumption and exhaust performance earlier by executing precise feedback control earlier when a learning value is cleared and the storage of the learning value is started. SOLUTION: When that a learning value is cleared and the storage of the learning value is started again is detected by a judging means 35, operation in a lean operation mode is prohibited for a preset time by a prohibiting means 36 and the learning value is renewed and stored by a storage means 34 with the expansion of the range of execution conditions in a stoichiometric operation mode so that an accurate learning value can be quickly obtained by approaching a proper learning value earlier for resuming proper feed back control. The precise feedback control is executed earlier independently of the performance dispersion of various sensors and equipment, whereby poor fuel consumption and exhaust performance are recovered earlier.
