PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorant composition that is obtained from thyme, a natural product, and is soluble in water. SOLUTION: The aboveground part of thyme (Thymus vulgaris Linne), a spicery and pungent plant, is extracted with a lower aliphatic alcohol or with an aqueous aliphatic alcohol to obtain a deodorant composition. This extract has the deodorant action and mainly includes eriocitrin, hesperidin, arbutin, narirutin, rosemarinic acid and luteolin and. Particularly, eriocitrin has been found to have excellent deodorant effect.
