PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously satisfy opposite characteristics of a cutting resistance and an eject resistance of projections from a rear face, and a take-up easiness in a calender process by providing a useful surface flatness and a superior transferability as a base film for high-density magnetic recording media. SOLUTION: To one surface of an aromatic polyamide biaxially stretched film which is expressed by M(OH)X or M2(CO3)X (M is a metal element of the Ia group or IIa group in a periodic table and X is 1-2) having an average particle size of 5-1500 nm therein, includes inorganic particles as a neutralizer residue during an aromatic polyamide polymerization process and has a total of Young's moduli in longitudinal and lateral directions of 2000 kg/mm2 or more is set a paint film which contains a particle X of an average particle size dx of 100-1000 nm by a content of 0.01-40 wt.%, a particle Y of an average particle size dy of 5-100 nm by a content of 1-70 wt.% while a ratio dx/dy is 1.2 or larger and a sum of the X and Y is 75 wt.% or smaller. A thickness of the paint film is not smaller than 4 nm and smaller than the dy.
