The invention relates to a gas injection valve for the injection of gaseous fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, with a guided piston longitudinally displaceable in the valve housing and a poppet valve connected thereto, provided for the control of a blow-off hole and opening in the direction of flow of the gas, together with a control hydraulics working chamber, to which the delivery pressure of the control hydraulic fluid delivered by a pressure pump can be admitted and which is separated from the gas chamber by the piston, the poppet valve being fixable in the closed position solely by the gas pressure when the pressure in the control hydraulics working chamber is relieved.
