PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing synthetic silica glass powder having high purity and high quality capable of being baked in a powdery state without fusing. SOLUTION: In the method for producing synthetic silica glass powder in which powdery silica gel is baked and vitrified to have transparency, this production of synthetic silica glass powder is to bake the aforesaid powdery silica gel at 1,000-1,600 deg.C by feeding helium gas and bubbling the gas to flow the powdery gel.
