PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase, by simple structure, the capacity of an oil pan coupled to an oil pan coupling face formed on an underface of an engine block, in a vertical engine supporting the crankshaft to direct vertically. SOLUTION: The oil pan coupling face 115 formed on the underface of the engine block 11 supported to direct the crankshaft 15 vertically is extended to the lower side of a cylinder head 12 over a prolonged line L to the lower side of a cylinder head coupling face 114 formed in a rear face of the engine block 11, and an area of the oil pan coupling face 115 is thereby increased without interfering with the cylinder head coupling face 114 to increase the capacity of the oil pan 411 coupled to the coupling face 115. Since the both coupling face 114, 115 are not continued to each other, the generation possibility of any obstacle as to sealing for the coupling faces 114, 115 is precluded.
