摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor free to effectively transmit thrust generated by a propeller to a hull while effectively reducing transmission of vibration generated by an engine. SOLUTION: Inertial force (a) in the longitudinal direction generated by a piston 14 is set off by inertial force (b) generated by a crankshaft 15, and inertial force (c), (d) in the cross direction secondarily generated vibrates a main body of an outboard motor in the cross direction around a virtual central point C. At this time, as rigidity in a tangential direction (L3 direction) with the virtual central point C of vibration as its center of an elastic body 74 to elastically support the main body of the outboard motor on a hull is set lower than rigidity in the radial direction (L2 direction) with the virtual central point of vibration as its center, the vibration in the cross direction is effectively reduced by lower rigidity of the elastic body 74. Propeller thrust (e), (f) working in the longitudinal direction (L1 direction) is transmitted to the hull through the elastic body 74, but, as rigidity of the elastic body 74 along the direction is set high, it is possible to effectively transmit the propeller thrust (e), (f) to the hull.
