PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compactly dispose a PTO transmission in a position where an operator can operate in a natural posture, at the side of a driver's seat, and simplify the structure of the PTO transmission gear to reduce the number of part items and assembly cost. SOLUTION: In a PTO transmission for a tractor having a gear type shift mechanism with three forward gear stages and one reverse gear stage, the shift positions of three forward gear stages and one reverse gear stage are arranged on a straight line at a guide plate of a shift lever. In a transmission case 18 of the PTO transmission gear, a set of sliding type gears 50 is disposed on a PTO shaft 31, and a large gear 50a and a small gear 50b are disposed at both ends of the sliding type gear 50. A clearance L between the gears 50a, 50b is set almost twice the tooth width of the small gear 50b. The sliding type gears 50 are jointly used and meshed with the respective speed change gears of three forward gear stages and one reverse gear stage to change speed.
