PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven auxiliary elevating/lowering device for tower or the like which can considerably reduce the cost and the weight, improve the working efficiency in the lowering mode, and ensure the safety. SOLUTION: A device body provided with a drive wheel for elevating operation and a drive motor which is engaged with a rack of a guide rail attached in the vertical direction, a lowering control mechanism to control the gravity lowering speed of the device body with the drive wheel in an idling condition, and a suspension wire connected to the device body to perpendicularly support a worker are provided on a fitting base body of an auxiliary elevating/lowering device such as a corner post of a transmission tower and a side wall of a deep shaft. The lowering control mechanism is provided with a braking wheel which is axially fitted to one end of a rotary shaft assembled with the device body and engaged with the rack, and a torque providing part which is assembled with the other end side of the rotary shaft to control the rotation of the braking wheel.
