PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of the complicated reinforcing structure of a swivel base and the warping of the swivel base and to properly arrange a suction hose or delivery hose. SOLUTION: This backhoe comprises the swivel base rotatable about the vertical axis provided on a traveling device, the swivel base having a vertical rib extending from the front to the rear, an engine arranged in the rear of the swivel base, a hydraulic pump arranged on either lateral side closer to the engine of the swivel base, and a working fluid tank and control valve arranged on the other lateral side of the swivel base. The rear part of the vertical rib is extended so as to pass under the engine, and an insert hole for passing a hydraulic pipe to be arranged between the hydraulic pump and the working fluid tank and control valve is formed through the vertical rib.
