PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition for the hair, which gives excellent hand and feel from rinsing to finishing, and has excellent dyeability. SOLUTION: This dye composition for the hair is obtained by adding chitosan as an additive into a composition consisting of a tar color pigment, a polysaccharide and/or its derivative, and an organic solvent. Further, the pH of the whole composition is 3.5-4.5.
