PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator which minimizes a remodeling work of an existing stairway and is suitable for supporting upper and lower frame bodies to constitute a main frame. SOLUTION: In an escalator 1 extending from a lower story floor 1D to an upper story floor 1U, an upper frame body 13 is provided on the upper side of a stairway 2, a lower frame body 16 is provided on the lower side of the stairway 2, the upper frame body 13 is connected to the lower frame body 16 via a support body 13E, and the lower frame body 16 is supported by a stay 16E.
