<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce inexpensive martensitic stainless steel having functionality more excellent than that of 431 martensitic stainless steel, precipitation hardening type stainless steel and titanium alloys, having tensile strength, yield strength and hardness equal to those of maraging steel, moreover having corrosion resistance more excellent than that of 304 stainless steel and having corrosion resistance equal to that of 316 stainless steel. SOLUTION: This steel has a composition containing, by weight, 12 to 16% chromium, 1.0 to 3.0% nickel, 1.5 to 5.0% molybdenum, <=0.5% vanadium, <=2.0% silicon, <=2.0% manganese, 0.1 to 0.65 carbon and 0.1 to 0.3% nitrogen, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities.</p> |
