PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nonwoven looped material improved in hooking rate with a hooking counterpart and capable of multi- directional hooking by stabilizing its shape. SOLUTION: This method is for producing a looped material for hook-and- loop fasteners, comprising steps of (1) forming a nonwoven fabric having the front and back sides of nonwoven fabric of randomly arranged non-elastic thermoplastic fibers, (2) stretching the nonwoven fabric in the x-direction and then y-direction to form the looped fibers 26, 27 and 28, to expand the nonwoven fabric mostly in the x-y plane, (3) letting a fluid to pass through the nonwoven fabric in the z-direction, to stabilize the stretched nonwoven fabric in the z- direction.
