CARBOXYL-CONTAINING RESIN AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carboxyl-containing resin having excellent dispersion stability of filler and good handleability and provide its production process. SOLUTION: The objective carboxyl-containing resin is composed of a unit expressed by general formula (I) (R1 is H or methyl) and a unit expressed by general formula (II) (R1 is H or methyl; R2 is a bivalent organic group having a 2C main chain and formed after the opening of oxazoline group by reacting with active hydrogen; R3 is a univalent organic group consisting of a monooxazoline compound residue) and has an acid value of 200-700 KOH mg/g. The carboxyl-containing resin is produced by reacting (A) a polycarboxylic acid with (B) a monooxazoline compound at a ratio of <1 equivalent of the oxazoline group in the component B based on 1 equivalent of the carboxyl group in the component A.
