PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method in which a linear obstacle is eliminated from a printed image. SOLUTION: The method of printing a substrate with an ink jet printing device provided with at least one print head comprising at least one row of nozzles having a first end and second end such that an orientation of the row with respect to the substrate is given by an imaginary line going from the first end to the second end comprises a first printing stage in which a strip of the substrate is provided with ink drops and a second printing stage in which the strip is provided with supplementary ink drops, wherein the orientation of the row used in the first printing stage is substantially the opposite to the orientation of the row used in the second printing stage.
