PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus capable of applying a membrane even to a thin support at a high speed even if there is the 'irregularity' of film thickness or 'unevenness' like printing formed by pre-processing on the surface of the support and capable of keeping a good state after drying and taking-up even when coating is achieved by applying high tension in a coating part. SOLUTION: In an apparatus having a pair of guide rolls for guiding a support provided thereto on the upstream and downward sides of a coater head and directly applying a coating soln. to the support running between the upstream and downstream guide rolls, a nip part due to a combination of a metal roll and a resin roll or a suction roll is arranged on this side of the upstream guide roll and a suction roll is arranged behind the downstream guide roll.
