PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dishwasher preventing water from overflowing from a water tank. SOLUTION: This dishwasher 1 has a washing water level switch 12a and a maximum water level switch 12b. The washing water level switch 12a is on when the water level in a water tank 6 exceeds a washing water level L0, and the maximum water level switch 12b is on when the water level in the water tank 6 exceeds the maximum water level L1. A microcomputer installed in a control unit 24 makes a drain pump 13 pump out water in the water tank 6 till the water level in the water tank 6 is lower than the washing water level L0 when the maximum water level switch 12b is on. After the pumping out, water in the water tank 6 is pumped out by the drain pump 13 till the water level in the water tank 6 is lower than the washing water level L0 whenever the washing water level switch 12a is on or the maximum water level switch 12b is on.
