PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for holding freshness, which is easily installable in a showcase and easy in cleaning, and in which the amount of generation of minus-ion wind is not changed even on the occasion of the exchange of cassettes, and to provide a method for holding freshness by using the apparatus. SOLUTION: Cassette-type minus-ion generators are fixed in a showcase. Herein, a paired electrode is assembled in a cassette in such a manner that an outside electrode and the tip of a needle-shaped electrode are installed in a paired state at one opening of the outside electrode with a specified distance.
