PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a series hybrid electric-powered vehicle allowing the mounting of a small battery. SOLUTION: A remaining battery capacity detection part 20 (remaining capacity detecting means) is provided for detecting the remaining capacity of a battery 4. An output calculation part 12 (required power detecting means) is provided for detecting the required power of a motor 3. An output request generation part 11 (engine control means) is provided for controlling the rotating speed of an engine 7 in accordance with the detection results of both detecting means. The output request generation part 11 increases the rotating speed of the engine as the remaining capacity of the battery 4 is smaller and increases the rotating speed of the engine as the required power of the motor 3 is greater.
