PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyester, by which the improvement in the dispersibility of inorganic particles in the polyester and the reduction in the aggregates of the inorganic particles can be achieved without lowering the productivity of the polyester. SOLUTION: This method for producing the inorganic particle-containing polyester whose main repeating units are ethylene terephthalate units comprises filtering the 2 to 15 wt.% ethylene glycol dispersion of inorganic particles having the primary average particle diameter of <=3.0μm by the use of a filter having a sieve opening of <=35μm, adding the obtained filtrate to a polyester low polymer so that the amount of the inorganic particles is <0.3 wt.%/min based on the polyester low polymer, and then polycondensing the polyester low polymer.
