PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for manufacturing a (meth)acrylate compound having carboxyl and other functional groups, capable of giving and improving sensitivity and flexibility, and further being excellently developed with alkali, when the compound is used as a printed image-forming material, and to provide a printed image-forming material composition by the use of the same compound. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the (meth)acrylate compound having carboxyl groups comprises reacting a compound having one or more hydroxyl groups and further having two or more (meth)acryloyloxy groups with an acid anhydride of the general formula (I) (R1 is a carboxylic acid residue of tetracarboxylic acid) and/or a compound having two or more carboxyl groups.
