PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbent having improved nitrogen selectively, high hydrothermal stability, low affinity with water, and capable of being produced at a low cost. SOLUTION: This invention is to provide an innovative adsorbent containing about 1 to 100% of a monovalent cation, about 0 to 100% of a divalent cation, and about 0 to 100% of a trivalent cation and having a skeletal structure of BEA, BOG, CAN, EUO, FER, GME, LTL, MAS, MEI, MEL, MFI, MFS, MOR, MTT, MTW, NES, OFF, STI, TON, VET or the structure of their mixture for selectively adsorbing nitrogen from a gas mixture especially by pressure- swing-adsorption method.
