PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing the multivalent metal salt of an amidosulfonic acid having high quality with little content of long chain fatty acids generated as byproducts. SOLUTION: This production of the metal salt of an amidosulfonic acid expressed by general formula II is to react the alkali metal salt of an amidosulfonic acid expressed by general formula (I) with a water soluble multivalent metal salt in the presence of water in pH 8-13. (R1 is a 7-21C straight chain or branched chain alkyl, an alkenyl or a hydroxyalkyl; R2 is H or a 1-5C alkyl; X is a 2-3C alkylene or a group expressed by the formula; A is an alkali metal; M is a multivalent metal; m is a valence of M and n is 1-4 integer).
