PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for controlling pH of a hydrochloric acid based Zn-Fe alloy electroplating solution are provided to prevent plating stripe on the surface of a plating strip and edge burning by appropriately controlling pH of the Zn-Fe alloy electroplating solution. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for controlling pH of a hydrochloric acid based Zn-Fe alloy electroplating solution comprises a plating solution storage tank(10) which is connected to an electroplating vessel(5) so as to temporarily store a plating solution inside the electroplating vessel(5), and which has a pH measuring meter(12); a sludge dissolution tank(20) which is connected to the plating solution storage tank(10) to receive the plating solution, and equipped with a hydrochloric acid injector(22) for dissolving sludge in the plating solution, a pH measuring meter(24) and a reductive degree measuring meter(26) of the plating solution; a reaction tank(30) which is connected to the sludge dissolution tank(20) to receive the plating solution, and equipped with a metallic reducing agent injector(32) for increasing a pH of the plating solution, a pH measuring meter(34) and a reductive degree measuring meter(36) of the plating solution; a filter(40) which is connected to the reaction tank(30) to receive the plating solution, and which transfers the filtered plating solution to the plating solution storage tank(10) by filtering the plating solution; and a control system(50) which electrically connected to the pH measuring meter(12) of the plating solution storage tank(10), the hydrochloric acid injector(22) and pH measuring meter(24) of the sludge dissolution tank(20) and the reductive degree measuring meter(26), and the metallic reducing agent injector(32) of the reaction tank(30), the pH measuring meter(34) and the reductive degree measuring meter(36), and which is consisted of a programmable facility control computer so as to increase or adjust the measured pH of the plating solution to an optimum pH by passing the plating solution through the sludge dissolution tank(20), reaction tank(30) and filter(40).
