PURPOSE:To obtain a dye which gives an image with a high density, a distinct yellow tone, a high capability of reproducing a color, and an excellent water resistance by adopting a dye with a specified molecular structure. CONSTITUTION:The objective dye is represented by formula I (R1 to R4 are each H, OH, CH3, Cl, COONH4, SO3NH4, or a group of formula II or III; R5 is CH3 or COONH4; and R6 to R9 are each H, OH, CH3, Cl, COONH4, SO3NH4, or a group of formula IV provided one SO3NH4 group and two or three COONH4 groups are present in one molecule). The dye is incorporated as a colorant into water and a water-sol. org. solvent to give an ink. The ink usually contains 0.1-15% dye, 10-97.5% water, and 2-80% watert-sol. org. solvent and has a viscosity of 1-20cP and a surface tension of 30dyn/cm or higher at 25 deg.C. |
