PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer printer capable of preventing the reverse transfer from a material to be printed to an intermediate transfer member at the time of back feed to ensure printing of high quality and control the operation thereof. CONSTITUTION:A control part 16 is provided, wherein a second heater 9 is turned ON when a color printing process is performed, and the second heater 9 is turned OFF when printing paper is fed back to a printing start position at each time when the printing of each color is completed.
