摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actuate a device in such a way that even if a heat medium in jacket chambers has solidified at the start of operation, a roller will not be deformed by the thermal expansion due to liquefaction of the heat medium with temperature rises. SOLUTION: A plurality of jacket chambers 3 are provided in communication with one another on the circumferential wall of a roller 1 having an induction heating mechanism provided therein. A heat medium A which solidifies when this roller device is not operated and the roller 1 is cold, and which is in a gas-liquid phase when the roller device is operated and the roller is heated, is sealed in each jacket chamber 3. An induction coil 10 in the induction heating mechanism comprises a center coil portion 11 extending along the axis thereof and an end coil portion 12 adjacent to the center coil portion. When operation is started from a non-operated condition in which the heat medium is solidified, the end coil portion is first excited to cause induction heating of the end of the roller 1 so as to liquefy the heat medium in the end of each jacket chamber 3.
