PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve power conversion efficiency in a switchihg converter which is subjected to switching driving through a self-exciting system. SOLUTION: A series inductor LA is connected to resonance current detection coil winding in series, and at the same time, an parallel inductor LC is connected in parallel with a series circuit, consisting of resonance current detection coil winding ND and the series inductor LA, thus allowing a switching drive current level to be supplied to the base of a switchig element Q1 (bipolar transistor) from a self-exciting drive circuit via a drive transformer PRT from the resonance current detection coil winding ND to conform to the drive conditions of the switching element, and hence omitting with respect to a base current limitaing resistor RB to be inserted into the base of the switching element Q1.
