PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the level of thermally induced mechanical stress by providing a supporting member, a heating member and a felt-like wool material arranged between the supporting member and the heating member. SOLUTION: This fixing device 200 is provided with the heating member 202. The supporting member 208 achieves a role as a strong mechanical supporting means for attaching the fixing device 200 to the appropriate constitution of an electrophotographic printer. Between a substrate 204 and the supporting member 208, a compliant material 210 such as felt-like wool, elastomer or the other kind of materials provided with compliant characteristics is arranged. Then, in order to easily reach heat balance between the substrate 204 and the supporting member 208 (the thermally induced mechanical stress is reduced by that), the substrate 204 and the supporting member 208 are attached to the corresponding surface of the compliant material 210 by using heat conductive epoxy at a high temperature.
