PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber array and an optical waveguide part small in size and connection loss. SOLUTION: In this optical fiber array, the width of an optical fiber array 32 is narrowed into nearly 1/2 the width of a conventional optical fiber array by placing the end parts of the other optical fibers 35a between the end parts of optical fibers 34a, D which are arrayed in V shaped grooves 36 of a V shaped groove substrate 37 and are in contact with adjacent optical fibers. The width of an optical fiber array 32 is narrowed into almost 1/2 the width of the conventional optical waveguide part by connecting the end surface of the optical fiber array 32 to the connecting end surface of an optical waveguide element part 31 wherein the other optical waveguide element 41 is turned over and stuck on an optical waveguide element 40 at the same pitch as that of the optical waveguide element 40 and moreover and at a place shifted by 1/2 pitch from the position of the optical waveguide element 40 so that waveguide cores 40a, 41a of the optical waveguide elements 40, 41 are faced each other. Therefore, the increase of loss is restrained to a minimum, and the optical fiber array and the optical waveguide part small in size and loss are obtained.
