PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a bright line, and generation of light leak, to increase outgoing light quantity, and to provide equalized surface illumination. SOLUTION: In this surface light source device 1, a reflection sheet 3 is protruded toward a fluorescent lamp 7 over an incidental surface side edge 21 of a guide plate 4, and a light absorbing layer 18 is formed at a tip part on the fluorescent 7 side of the reflection sheet 3. Light H incidental from an incidental side edge 21 of the guide plate 4 is physically shielded by the reflection sheet 3, and light close to the incidental surface side edge 21 of the guide plate 4 is absorbed by the light absorbing layer 18 of the reflection sheet 3. However, the light absorbing layer 18 is formed in such a way that its light absorbing rate becomes higher as it is more apart from a fluorescent lamp side tip 3a of the reflection sheet 3, so light quantity absorbed by the light absorbing layer 18 of the reflection sheet 3 is reduced compared to conventional devices, thereby more light quantity than in conventional devices is taken into the guide plate 4 through an incidental surface 6. |
