摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection liquid crystal display element with high reflectance and excellent contrast. SOLUTION: A polarizing plate 1 is arranged on one surface of a liquid crystal cell for driving and a reflection plate 4 is arranged on the other surface of it and simultaneously an optically anisotropic body 2 is arranged between the polarizing plate 1 and the reflection plate 4. The twisting angle θ1 of the liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal cell from the polarizing plate 1 to the reflection plate 4 and the twist angle θ2 of the slow axis of the optical anisotropic body 2 from the polarizing plate 1 to the reflection plate 4 are held within specified ranges respectively. Besides the product of the anisotropic refraction index and the thickness of the liquid crystal layer and the product of the anisotropic refractive index and the thickness of the optically anisotropic body 2 are held within specified ranges respectively.
