PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light controllable glass which is less deteriorated in characteristics by long-term exposure to UV rays, is excellent in fireproof performance, wind pressure resistant strength, impact resistance and safety in the event of a failure and has a shielding function for heat rays. SOLUTION: Optical modulation materials 3 composed of at least high- polymer gel particles which are reversibly changed in volume according to external stimuli and liquid used for the volumetric change of the high-polymer gel particles are held between two sheets of parallel arranged transparent plates 2 and 2. A protective function for protecting the light controllable glass 1 from the external factors to injure the function of the light controllable glass 1 is imparted to at least one of the transparent plates 2 and 2. This light controllable glass is, for example, the light controllable glass to which the UV shielding function 5 is imparted, or the light controllable glass using at least one among tempered glass, sandwich glass, double tempered glass and wired sheet glass or the light controllable glass using a heat ray reflection layer, hot ray low radiation layer or vacuum layer.
