PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jitter detection device for a video signal which can accurately detect the jitter quantity of jitters of the video signal. SOLUTION: This jitter-detecting device 22, detects jitters of a video signal Sv measures a vertical time (Stf (v)) of one field (v) of the signal Sv and decides whether the signal Sv is subjected to jitters, on the basis of a vertical time signal (Stf (v)). When a number of times (Cej) the signal Sv is decided continuously as being subjected to jetting is smaller than a 1st prescribed number of times (Tej), the signal Sv is recognized as a jitter signal (Svj), and when a number (Cnj) of times the signal Sv is decided continuously that the signal Sv is not subjected to jittering is smaller than a 2nd prescribed number (Tnj) of times, the signal Sv is recognized as a non-jitter signal (Svjn).
