PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a characteristic scene that extends over a plurality of images, by detecting the characteristic scene included in each image that is divided into a plurality of parts and recorded together with time information such as a time code showing reproduction time and calculating the detection frequency of the characteristic scene per unit time regarding the time information of the detected characteristic scene as information composed of a plurality of continuous images. SOLUTION: A characteristic scene processing part 110 sets a number that uniquely represents a detection object from a plurality of images. A digital still picture and a time code are fetched from an image to be an object through a video input device 107, and the time code is stored as the first time code of the image. Next, the characteristic quantity of the digital still picture is calculated, and it is decided whether or not the digital still picture is detected as a characteristic scene on the basis of the characteristic quantity. As a result, when the digital still picture is defined as a characteristic scene, the digital still picture, the characteristic quantity and its time code are added to a list together. |
