IMPROVED ADHESIVE LAYER FOR POLYESTER FILM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester film with a directly contacted and supported adhesive layer having no repellent site or a very limited number of repellent sites by using a specified alkyl (poly)glycoside as a surfactant. SOLUTION: An adhesive layer containing an alkyl (poly)glycoside surfactant of the formula CnH2n+1-O-(C6H10O5)x-H is directly contacted and supported on a polyester film. In the formula, C6H10O5 is a monosaccharide unit, (n) is 5-20 and (x) is an integer of 1-4 or a fractional mean value. The top of the polyester film is coated with the adhesive layer or a latex undercoat layer before or after biaxial drawing or during drawing in the lengthwise and crosswise directions. A coating solution for the adhesive layer contains the alkyl (poly) glycoside as well as a latex (co)polymer.
