PURPOSE: To remove SOx and NOx and to raise the ignition point by mixing an additive to increase the ash content and a caking material in a carbon-contg. substance, kneading the mixture, forming the kneaded material, carbonizing and activating the formed material to control the ash content in a specified range. CONSTITUTION: A waste gas is introduced into a reactor 3 through a waste gas inlet line 1, and, in this case, ammonia is injected through an ammonina injection line 2. An additive to increase the ash content of a carbon-contg. substance by 5-40% and a caking agent are mixed, the mixture is carbonized and activated to obtain a desulfurization and denitration catalyst, and a catalyst bed 4 is formed so that the catalyst descends in the reactor 3 from the top to bottom. The waste gas is brought into contact with the bed 4, desulfurized, denitrated and then discharged from an waste gas discharge line 5. Since the catalyst is utilized in desulfurization and denitration in this way, the adsorption of SOx is not concentrated on the bed 4 close to the inlet of the waste gas inlet line 1 and distributed over the entire bed 4, and the SOx and NOx are simultaneously removed. |
