PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric rolling stock controller that can detect an input of forward and backward running contactor and can also detect a fault of fly-wheel diode without any erroneous detection. SOLUTION: A voltage of a switching means 14 is respectively inputted to an input means A18 and an input means B19 of different conversion characteristics, one is set to detect the operation range voltage Vin1 24 of the electric rolling stock controller, the other is set to detect the dielectric strength upper voltage Vin2 25 of the switching means 14 and the voltage is then inputted to an arithmetic means 17. An input of the forward contactor 5 or backward contactor 6 is detected using the highly accurate detection Vin1 24 and a fault of the fly-wheel diode 9 is detected using a wide range detection Vin2 25.
