PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of realizing stable scanning for read and the improvement of image reading quality. SOLUTION: A belt 15 is arranged so that force in a direction where a scanning body goes toward a guide bar 6 being a guide member acts on a sensor supporting member 3, and the scanning body keeps a state where it is guided by the guide bar 6 being the guide member by keeping a state where the lower surfaces of the sleeve parts 4a and 4b of a slider 4 fixed at the lower part of the member 3 are pressed to abut on the upper surface of the guide bar 6.
