SOLUTION: A library controller 2 is connected to a host computer 3 and a LAN 32 respectively through a transmission path 31 using an SCSI standard. Also, the controller 2 is connected to a cassette library 1 through a transmission paths 24, 25 using an standard RS-232C. When operation errors such as an error of a drive device 13 in a drive console 1D, an error for an instruction from the host computer 3, and the like are detected, the library controller 2 makes a transmission document of error information with a prescribed form, attaches it to an electronic mail, and transmits it to an address previously set. Therefore, an exclusive line between the person in charge for maintaining a system and the device is not required to set.
