PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a package structure for an optical module which is stabilized in optical characteristics and is capable of withstanding impact from outside. SOLUTION: The package structure of the optical module consisting of a first package 3 formed by fixing a waveguide element 2 connected with optical fibers 1 onto a metallic base 3a and fixing a heater 8 for heating up to the under surface of this metallic base 3a and a second package 6 for housing this first package 3 is formed with a recessed part 9 housing the first package 3 atop a first thermally insulating material 4 below thermally insulating materials for holding the first package 3 from above and blow. After the first package 3 is housed in this recessed part 9, the second thermally insulating material 5 is superposed on this first thermally insulating material 4 and these thermally insulating materials are housed into the second package 6. |
