PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of formatting a disk and obtain a high recording density in conjuction with forming a servo region, by continuously reproducing servo data from a deep layer simultaneously with recording/reproducing user data in a deep servo system, and realizing highly accurate head-positioning control. SOLUTION: An HDD of a deep servo system is disclosed. A phase-type position detection servo pattern is recorded as servo data over the whole of a deep servo data region of a disk 300, independently of the data track pitch of a user data region. A user data-reproducing system 200 is made to pass a reproduction mixing signal from a head 12 through an HPF 202 and extracts a data signal DS corresponding to the user data. A servo system 201 passes the reproduction mix signal from the head 12 through an LPF 203 and extracts a servo signal SS corresponding to servo data.
