PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image recorder provided with developing unit that is small, simple and easy to maintain. SOLUTION: This device is constituted so that each of 4 developing units provided with electrode rolls 19 are loaded to a supporting body by being inserted inside the device in a state where an opening part in a vicinity of the electrode roll 19 is faced up and able to be installed in an image forming position by rotational movement. In this case, an electrode roll cover 28 by which the electrode roll 19 is covered in a closed state and on the other hand exposing the electrode roll 19 by being evaded to a containing part provided within a space range exclusive for rotation of the supporting body in an opened state is provided and it is constituted so that a photoreceptor/belt unit is inserted inside the device from an opening and closing part in front of the device and guided to an image forming position from an orthogonal direction to the electrode roll 19.
