摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency in nuclear fusion reaction by inhibiting thermions emitted from a cathode from reaching an anode and efficiently converting a power source current into an ionic current. SOLUTION: A magnetic field can be applied to a cathode 1 in a spherical vacuum container 10 by locating a circular coil 9 for generating the magnetic field outside the vacuum container 10. The cathode 1 and the first and second anodes 2 and 3 are stowed inside the vacuum container 10, and an acceleration power source is connected between the cathode 1 and the first and second anodes 2 and 3. The cathode 1 is supported from the upper part of this device by an electric porcelain 11. A coil 9 for generating a magnetic field are composed of a pair of upper and lower coils by making the axis penetrating the electric porcelain 11 common with the central axis of the circular coil 9. This makes it difficult for emitted thermions to reach the first anode 2, and the efficiency in the generation of neutrons can be improved by effectively using a power source current for the acceleration of ions.
